First Day of Summer, 2005 (Cont.)
 |
| Step 42: BUILD MORE TREES.
The personality of this corner of the Layout has undergone a massive
transformation with the tunnel addition. The barren hillsides from the earlier pictures have been replaced with walls of
dense vegetation. Not only has the character of the lower track changed at this point, but the additional elevation has also
effected the character of the next higher level of rails....
|
|
 |
| The intermediate track has now been engulfed in another
"tunnel
effect", utilizing the trees as a evolutionary design.... |
|
 |
This Burlington GP-50 descends through the
"tree tunnel", a scene we
have seen many times in wonderful
rail fan photos throughout the eastern United States. |

I've done a bit of kit-bashing here to construct this cliff side dock.
To be honest, I have no idea what the practicality of this structure would be. I just built it because I thought it would
look COOL.....what can I say? It's the "My-Layout-and-I-can-do-whatever-I-want-and" . . . O heck, you know the drill by
now.... (By the way, that's the "Pillar Crane" from JL Innovative Design . . . . a VERY COOL kit!!!) The pallet is my
addition.

I hit the
"Mother-lode" on ebay last week with the purchase of about
30+ trucks and construction/street repair vehicles. As you can see, the scope of the NONAVILLE MAINTENANCE DEPOT has
changed considerably.

As in
"real life", it's important to protect those portable generators. (Of course, if I were REALLY into
details, I would have painted the orange hook before I took this
picture...!...)
|

|
With one last look at the warehouse district,
it's time to move on to
the other end of the layout for the summer. I'm anxious to start putting together the agricultural areas.
Hopefully, by the end of the summer I can have the area somewhat
"charted out" and most of the delineating painting
completed.
Stay cool.
