JULY, 2006  (Cont.)

One does pause to think of the consequences of strong storms in the area and tree limbs breaking the lines in this tangled forest.  It means a major repair problem for the electric company lineman guy! . . . Wait a minute! Storm Damage!?! Lineman!?!

[Cue the band . . Music up....] It’s a Jimmy-Webb-NostalgIc-Song-
Moment! . . .

Altogether, EVERYBODY SING:
“I am a lineman for the count-teeeeee....”

[ Disclaimer: At this point, anyone under the age of 35 is allowed
to plead ignorance of any of Glenn Campbell’s seven hit songs from
1968. ]

Whadda you mean, “Who’s Glenn Campbell”? . .

And the electrical poles come to an end at the table edge, technically giving the appearance that the lines go somewhere beyond the peninsula, out of sight of their starting point somewhere before Shady Grove Church, in the farmland.

My WONDERFUL WIFE WHOM I’VE MENTIONED BEFORE is always delighted when I work on “threading” the poles. Not only is it time consuming, since I can usually only do about four or five a night, but it also means I’m not spending money on yet another engine or two.

(Not that she’s ever mentioned that!)

hmmm . . .

Thumbing through the Walthers Catalog I spotted their retired model of a “Team Track”, which gave me the idea of what to do with this narrow area on the inside section of my layout.

A “Team Track” is a rail siding for general use by freight shippers,
named for the teams of horses that once pulled the wagons to fetch
the freight. Or in this case, “horse power”.

By adding a spur, side and end-track ramps, and several types of cranes, an all purpose loading and unloading facility fills this area on the inside straight-away of the “J”.
